1. WIRE BRUSH
Remove all soft grain from the wood by wire brushing thoroughly.
2. SAND
Sand with 180-grit to remove wire brush scratches and close up the hardwood grain.
3. CLEAN
Blow out all sanding dust from the grain for a clean surface.
4. STAIN/KUSTOM COLOR
Apply your chosen stain or base color evenly and allow it to dry for 30 minutes.
5. SEAL
Apply 2 coats of Kustom Klear*, sanding lightly between coats with a soft sanding pad or sanding block with 400-600 grit abrasive. Ensure each coat is dry before sanding and recoating.
6. APPLY GRAINFX
Apply the GrainFX to the unsanded surface. Let it dry approximately 20 minutes — it will appear chalky when dry.
7. REFINE
Remove unwanted GrainFX using a soft sanding pad or sanding block with 400-600 grit abrasive.
8. FINAL CLEAR
Blow off/remove all sanding dust, then apply 1-2 final coats of Kustom Klear to finish.
